Celebrating four decades of the World Habitat Awards
World Habitat, in collaboration with UN-Habitat, has published a new report celebrating 40 years of recognising innovative, sustainable, and replicable housing programmes around the world. Community Land Trust Brussels is featured in this new publication.
In 2009, World Habitat organised a visit to the Champlain Housing Trust in Burlington, which had been awarded the World Habitat Award that year. Among the guests were Brussels non-profit, who left inspired and determined to establish Belgium’s very first Community Land Trust.
Twelve years later, in 2021, with 103 inhabited homes and a thriving community of members, Community Land Trust Brussels was awarded by the World Habitat Award. An exceptional recognition of the work of our members, our team, and our Board of Directors.
For over 40 years, the World Habitat Awards have built an international network of innovative actors and highlighted practical, replicable solutions, which has strengthened our credibility and continues to support us in defending our mission today.
