Launches Final Phase of Erasmus+ Cohousing Project with Local Pilot Initiative

Community Land Trust Brussels is proud to announce the launch of the final phase of its participation in a groundbreaking Erasmus+ project (Cohousilience: Developing Cohousing in the EU for Forward-looking Societies) aimed at promoting innovative local learning, inclusion, and diversity through Cohousing across Europe.

Starting in November 2023, the project—co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme—runs for 30 months and focuses on strengthening local community education through the creation of Community Hubs, the promotion of cohousing as a lifestyle, and the development of learning pathways for both educators and community members.

Objectives

The initiative aims to:

  • Promote inclusion and diversity by implementing 5 pilot studies in cohousing initiatives across 4 EU countries;
  • Create 5 forward-looking local learning centers known as Community Hubs;
  • Conduct informal training courses to prepare cohousers as community leaders;
  • Develop a Cohousing Community Platform to link EU-wide hubs for communication and collaboration;
  • Organize three study visits in Italy, Belgium, and France to explore cohousing solutions to social issues;
  • Provide informal training for educators and social workers during these visits;
  • Conduct a one-year community learning programme with impact evaluation at each pilot site.

Support to community activities in Brussels

The Cohousilience project also supported the organisation of numerous community activities such as sewing classes, ‘Roue Libre’ cycling classes and activities with the young residents of Arc-en-Ciel.
